Sucupira (Sucupira Preto)

Sucupira, also referred to as Brasilian chestnut, is native to Brazil as well as the northern region of South America. The brown wood is very hard and extremely durable.

Appearance of Sucupira Preto

The 12 to 18-metre trees have a straight cylindrical trunk. After the rainy season, the tree, which is part of the pea family, is studded with light-purple to light-blue blossoms. The core wood has a brown or dark-brown hue and a light, subtlely striped pattern.
