Walnut

Walnut has been one of the most popular woods for centuries. The American walnut tree is prevalent in Florida, Texas, Nebraska, Canada and Kansas as well as in some parts of Europe.

Appearance of walnut

The tree can grow as high as 40 metres and have a diameter of up to three metres and its wood is almost knotless. The heartwood has a dark brown to violet-black colouring, whereas the sap wood is rather grey-brown to light yellow in colour. The heartwood can darken a little over time. Variations in colour and grain as well as the distinctly visible growth rings give the wood a particularly decorative look.

Use of walnut

American walnut, which is one of the most beautiful and refined types of wood, is used predominantly in furniture production and parquet flooring.
