Surface treatment

Tailored to your lifestyle

Whether it’s social gatherings, a busy family life, or pets, a parquet floor is used every day. What matters most is durability and a surface that’s easy to care for. Bauwerk Parkett’s special surface treatments protect your parquet reliably and can be tailored to your individual needs.

Natural and sustainable parquet surfaces

All Bauwerk Parkett floors feature healthy living surface treatments that protect the wood from wear and dirt. These treatments help prevent scratches and make it easy to wipe away everyday mishaps. Our parquet surfaces are free from harmful emissions, nanoparticles, and substances such as phthalates or plasticisers. Another benefit: parquet has antibacterial and antiviral effects.

Most of our products are treated with natural oil or finished with lacquer. Our innovative B-Protect® surface combines the natural look of raw wood with the benefits of a classic seal.

Naturally oiled parquet – sensual, natural, and easy to repair

With oiled parquet, the wood is treated with a natural, oxidatively drying oil. Applied in several coats, the oil penetrates deep into the wood’s pores. Once filled, the pores remain breathable and help protect the surface from dirt. The result is a deep oil impregnation that protects the wood effectively while preserving its natural character. The matte look and direct feel appeal to the senses, creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout the room.

This durable, breathable surface enhances the wood’s warm presence and is easy to repair. It also improves slip resistance, helping reduce the risk of accidents during lively everyday activity. Naturally oiled floors require regular care, but reward it with an exceptionally long service life.

Matt-sealed – practical, durable, and functional

Parquet is sealed by applying ultra-thin lacquer layers several times, typically five to seven coats. The lacquer forms a protective skin over the wood. This impregnating, film-forming surface treatment creates a matt appearance that highlights the wood’s characteristic details while protecting it against very heavy wear.

One of the clear advantages of sealed parquet is its extensive protection against water and moisture. Sealed parquet also requires no special maintenance. The durable, extremely easy-care surface has a very low tendency to pick up dirt, making natural floors well-suited to everyday life in every area of the home.

B-Protect® – natural look, invisible protection

Bauwerk Parkett’s innovative B-Protect® surface finish sets new standards in parquet sealing. Visually, B-Protect® is nearly indistinguishable from natural, untreated wood, yet it delivers all the benefits of a classic seal. This provides optimal protection while preserving the parquet’s natural radiance and tactile feel. It is also exceptionally easy to care for and durable. One key advantage: even after prolonged exposure to light, the wood shows only minimal color change.

Surface texture

To give parquet planks a defined texture, they are brushed along the grain. This removes the softer parts of the wood, bringing out its distinctive structure and grain. The result is subtle variations in light reflection that emphasize the expressive character of each individual plank. The texture also creates a comfortable feel underfoot, turning barefoot walking into a tactile experience. Beyond its unmistakable feel, brushed parquet offers another advantage: its natural structure can help conceal dirt and minor marks, making the floor more durable.

Depending on your preference, Bauwerk Parkett offers lightly brushed, brushed, and deep-brushed parquet. If no surface texture is visible, the product is sanded.
