La Masseria di Cornaredo
A building steeped in history has been transformed into a modern place of encounter
La Masseria di Cornaredo is located on part of the extensive grounds that once belonged to the chapter of canons of Lugano Cathedral, which the municipality acquired in 1913 and left empty from 1989 onwards. The facade facing Via Trevano has been preserved almost in its original form, while inside the building, a refined interplay of restored elements of agricultural architecture and modern components unfolds. As part of the Parkettzauber initiative 2023, we supported this project, helping to open a new chapter for La Masseria di Cornaredo with around 150 square metres of Monopark Oak Crema and 180 square metres of solid oak parquet laid on edge.
Entering the site through the gate, the Masseria’s three wings enclose the courtyard in a horseshoe shape, forming the idyllic heart of the complex that is open to everyone.
Brother Martino Dotta is known in the Swiss canton of Ticino for his commitment to those less fortunate and for the great effort he invests in creating a supportive network for them. For months, he was regularly on Via Sonvico, at the corner of Via Trevano on the northern outskirts of Lugano, at least once a week, and thanks to his passionate dedication, a building steeped in history has been transformed into a modern place of encounter.
For those who come to La Masseria di Cornaredo, the path upwards is not only about the stair treads clad with Bauwerk Parkett block parquet. Having a place for retreat, everyday necessities and meaningful encounters is also intended to help people in need move forward in their lives.
