Residential
Rustico Manno
Traditionally, rustici in Ticino were used for agricultural purposes, and today they are the epitome of modern living
In renovating the old, vacant building in the centre of Manno, the particular challenge for architect Fabio Compagno was to use the existing geometry of the former farmhouse as efficiently as possible in order to provide the residents with a layout that is as generous and functional as possible.

Rustici have a long tradition in Ticino: originally used as stables, granaries or hay barns, today – sensitively modernised – they embody individual freedom.
Inside, the architect and client chose to leave the timber structure visible, so walls and ceilings, as well as built-in furniture and cabinets, are now executed in raw spruce panels. To complement this, Cleverpark 1250 was installed across the 90-square-metre living area.

As the property is also intended for rental, the floor covering needs to be easy to care for and hard-wearing. The innovative B-Protect® seal provides additional protection for the wood, ensuring that the surface’s original appearance is preserved even after many years.
