A Swiss mountain getaway for architecture and design aficionados

Stone and water. These elements characterise the thermal baths and the hotel attached to these, as well as the small Vals municipality (population of 1,000) in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. This is a destination for architecture lovers, attracted from all over the world by Peter Zumthor’s award-winning masterpiece.

Wellness and world-renowned architecture all in one place
Vals first became famous thanks to its legendary thermal springs. St. Peter's spring has been attracting guests for more than 100 years with its highly mineralised water flowing at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. The world-famous thermal baths designed by Peter Zumthor include the 7132 Hotel and the House of Architects, with Bauwerk floors complementing the wellness experience throughout these buildings. The natural touch of wood brings you back to nature, helping you to rediscover relaxing sleep.

As our world turns faster and faster, these moments of sensory, tactile connection have a special meaning. They bring us closer to Earth, offering an important contrast to our virtual existence.

Away from mass tourism and towards the preservation of originality and exclusivity.

Large panoramic windows create a fluid transition between indoors and outdoors, bringing the fairy-tale landscape into the relaxation area within the thermal baths.

The new 7132 hotel was adapted according to the architectural concept of the thermal bath designed by Peter Zumthor.

Therme Vals

Trademark for a new concept in tourism
The name was inspired by the postal code of the Vals municipality: 7132 Hotel, 7132 House of Architects, 7132 Glenner, 7132 Gastronomie and 7132 Therme. The number 7132 has become the trademark of a new tourism concept: moving away from mass tourism and towards exclusivity and originality.

The new 7132 Hotel was adapted to the architectural concept of the thermal baths designed by Peter Zumthor. In addition to Peter Zumthor, other top architects were invited to Vals to achieve this: Kengo Kuma, Tadao Ando and Thom Mayne were able to bring their visions to life. Every room is a visual experience for anyone who loves design and architecture: light colours and noble, natural materials dominate this timeless design, with each room overlooking the mountains that surround the hotel. The upper floor captivates with its three 90-square-metre Penthouse Suites, designed by Japanese star architect Kengo Kuma, offering a breath-taking view of the picturesque surroundings through a fully glazed facade. Bauwerk’s light Villapark Crema oak parquet masterfully connects modern architecture and the ancient mountains around the hotel. Thanks to the B-Protect® surface treatment, the parquet can also be installed in open-plan bathrooms.

Simple elegance meets warm atmosphere: In the Residental Suite, the famous architect Kengo Kuma combined stylish furniture with natural materials such as the Villapark oak parquet flooring.

THE BAUWERK PRODUCT USED

Formpark

Although the idea is deceptively simple, it has never been done before. Formpark can be installed either in parallel or at a right angle thanks to its 1:3 and 1:2 proportions.
