Urban Villa in Zurich
They are as much a part of Zurich’s cityscape as the blue-and-white tram or Lake Zurich: the city villas from the 19th and 20th centuries
In 2012, a couple decided to buy the Allenmoos villa: the well-preserved building fabric and the original room layout were exactly what they were looking for, and the only planned addition was a “garden pavilion” designed to their specifications.
During the renovation, the original building was hardly altered. Additions made over the years were removed in order to reveal the original building fabric.
Particularly striking is the glass partition between the living room and study, which creates a semi-transparent separation between living and working and offers a contemporary interpretation of the bay-window glazing in the original building.

The transitions between rooms are designed to flow seamlessly. The continuous parquet floor in Silverline Edition Oak Silver in a 35 grading by Bauwerk Parkett adds a subtle tonal accent. The deeply brushed, naturally oiled planks, almost three metres long, underscore the generous proportions of the new rooms in a subtle way and form the connecting element between the new building and the original structure.
